1) PEACE ABBEY EVENT POSTPONED, UPCOMING COOKING CLASS, JULY 4TH PICNIC BY THE SEA
We are very sorry that we need to reschedule our annual Peace Abbey event because of speaker availability. I haven't yet sent an announcement of the event, but did include "save the date June 14" notes, so my apologies for those who have saved that date for this special event. As soon as we confirm the details, we'll send a notice with the new date.
Next vegan cooking class:
In the meantime, we can look forward to another of our wonderful vegan cooking classes with Chef Didi Emmons on Saturday, June 13, where we will learn some scrumptious ways to incorporate more micro-nutrient-dense local greens into our meals. Mustard greens, arugula, chickweed, sorrel, purslane and more - what to do with them? Details of that class will be sent to the list very soon. Please wait to sign up.
July 4th picnic by the sea
Don't miss our annual 4th of July Picnic by the Sea! We will gather again in Oncet, north of the bridge to Cape Cod, for a wonderful vegan potluck just 500 feet from the bay. Beach walks, strolls into the quaint town center, kayaking, eating, relaxing in a lawn chair, watching veg videos, meeting people in BVS, and maybe some badminton will add to the day. Rain date is Sunday, July 5. A detailed announcement will go to the list soon.
2) ABC'S NEW TV ANIMATED SITCOM FEATURES VEGAN FAMILY
Wednesday nights at 9 PM, ABC has launched a new animated sitcom, The Goode Family. There are some laugh-out-loud moments in this comedy about a family always conscious of doing good. For the broad population who recycles, drives hybrid cars, and re-uses paper bags, but forgets to stop eating animals, The Goode Family includes begin vegan as part of the do-good package. Reviews are mixed, and it is a parody, so the ability to laugh at some aspects of ourselves is required!
