Volunteer Needs for Veg Festival, Two Feature Stories in Globe & Herald, BVFF Organizing Committee
October 10, 2007

Hello Boston Vegetarian Society List!

We are in the countdown days to our 12th Annual Boston Vegetarian Food Festival on Sat., Oct. 20! We have a full house of fabulous exhibitors and a lineup of lively, information-packed, and humorous speakers.  All free!  Lots of free food sampling, but bring your wallet or checkbook, and stock up on show-special priced foods, books and cookbooks, and other items that support veg living.  We have fun nonfood exhibitors, such as vegan baseball gloves and high fashion, animal-friendly women's dress shoes! http://www.bostonveg.org/foodfest/

1)  VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Please hit Reply to volunteer, for a couple of hours or all day, we need you!

No special skills required -- there are a wide variety of tasks to be done. But do tell us if you have skills in these areas:

Audio/Visual equipment
Electrical work
A passion for recycling
Working with children (kids' crafts and activities)

Early birds -- There is a great need for volunteers from 7:30 - 10 AM on Sat. to help us set up and to assist exhibitors with unloading.  This is a perfect job for those who want to help but don't want to miss any speakers.  And you get to see the room empty as it fills with exhibitors and excitement!

2)  TWO FEATURE STORIES IN TODAY'S GLOBE AND HERALD

We have a great feature story with photos and recipes in today's Boston Herald Food Section:

"Boston Vegetarian Food Festival gives fresh look at meat-free eating"

One of our Festival exhibitors, a veg*n caterer, got a terrific feature in today's Boston Globe Food Section.  In it she tells how her booth at our Festival helped launch her veggie catering business!  We love stories of the ripple effect of this Festival.  :-)

"...Mason was dishing out soy meatballs with almond sauce at her booth at the Boston Vegetarian Food Festival and "somehow word spread that I was the veggie caterer." Her company was launched."  Full story:

3)  HELP US PUBLICIZE THE FESTIVAL

Help us draw in non-vegetarians to learn the whys and hows of veg*n living. Also, to surround aspiring veg*ns with the support they may need to flourish.

Please print and post our new flyer at health food stores, your gym, school, library, workplace, etc. Color or B & W.
