Boston is a "very vegetarian-friendly city." That's the assessment of Samir and Mona Sanghani. The couple (he manages an investment fund and she's a doctor) should know -- they're both lifelong vegetarians, and Samir is treasurer of the Boston Vegetarian Society.

2) FOREST WHITAKER SPEAKS OUT FOR VEGETARIANISM
With recent Best Actor Awards from both the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors' Guild, and a top contender for an Oscar at this Sunday's Academy Awards, Forest Whitaker has filmed a pro-veg PSA saying that going vegetarian is "one of the best choices I've ever made." 3) AMAZING GRACE
Opening this weekend is the beautiful film Amazing Grace, an inspiring story of the struggle to do right against seemingly insurmountable odds. William Wilberforce, who led the parliamentary campaign to end the British slave trade, is best known for his passionate work towards the abolition of slavery. The film shows that he was also a passionate defender of animals. He was a founding member of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
4) HISTORY OF VEG'M COLLECTION AT RADCLIFFE INSTITUTE AT HARVARD
The James C. Whitten Vegetarian Collection on the History of Vegetarianism will be housed at the prestigious Schlesinger Library at the Radcliffe Institute at Harvard. It contains over 200 books, hundreds of periodicals and pamphlets, trade cards, menus, pins and buttons of the last ten years, also rare texts from the 18th century to the 20th century from the U.S. and Europe. The collection documents vegetarian cooking, vegetarian philosophy, animal rights activism, the politics of vegetarian and anti-vegetarian groups---and much more, including a bright green guitar pick made for Linda McCartney, inscribed "Linda" on one side and "go veggie" on the other side.
This is a noncirculating library and is open to the public.

6) JOHN McENROE GOES BALLISTIC FOR NEUTERING
With Spay Day USA coming up on Feb. 27, tennis champion John McEnroe spoofs his reputation for having a fiery on-court temperament and shouting "You cannot be serious!" to an umpire during a Wimbledon match in a PSA to promote spay/neuter that made me laugh out loud.
